My name is Serkan Ceylan. I am living in Stockholm, Sweden since August, 2007.
I like travelling, watching movies, cooking, reading history, watching commercials, watching and playing football, ice-skating, blowing ney. Many more things that I like can be learned upon being my friend :)
I was born in Turkey in 1983 and grown up in İstanbul, the biggest city in europe. I have lived with my family until 2001 and then I moved to Edirne to study Business Administration in Trakya University.
During my university years, I established the biggest student club in Trakya University and worked in some other student clubs too. I have also been in the founders board of the Undergraduate Fans of Fenerbahçe Association which had more than 35000 members at the time.
I have done internships in Superonline corporate marketing team addressing the top 500 companies of Turkey, Cine5 and Fenerbahçe Magazine.
I have also worked in the municipality of Edirne in temporary projects. I have been the Student Brand Manager of Red Bull in Trakya University for a year.
When I graduated, I had the chance to go on a European Commission funded European Voluntary Service project in Luxembourg for a year which was a great experience for me to learn about different cultures, different countries and leading, co-working or being supervised by people from different countries.
Before going to Luxembourg; I had a six months time which I had to spend in an efficient way. I started working in Citibank as a Citiphone Officer which was a good opportunity for me to learn how to be patient, how to communicate with people better on the phone and how to convince people who have very different characters to sell products to or solving their problems.
By the end of my voluntary service in Luxembourg, I applied to Marketing, Management and Society masters programme in Stockholm University School of Business and at the end of my EVS period I came to Sweden to carry my studies a step further and specialize in marketing and management. After a year in Stockholm, I started my second masters programme in Royal Institute of Technology on Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management.
In the second era of my university studies which is this Stockholm story; I entered the world of AIESEC and I have been the vice president responsible from marketing activities in AIESEC STOCKHOLM which earned me very precious experiences and let me learn more about the behaviour of people from all around the world and gave me experiences on working in Sweden with a lot of foreigners and Swedes together. I have also seized an opportunity to go on an internship via AIESEC for three months in the summer of 2008. I did a marketing and international business internship in a leading, high-end construction, renovation, sanitary-ware and house-ware, retail chain company: CETUS in Rome, Italy.
Currently I am responsible from marketing at an online business consultancy company in Stockholm looking to get more and more share of their markets for my customers. My routine consists of branding, marketing communication, campaign design, e-mail marketing, online advertising and affiliate management. I touch a bit to sales ;) I love my job!
